textarea as syntax highlighter

hi all,

do you have experience turning a textarea into a codeviewer?
Would be nice to use a phprunner-app as libary for a private code-collection.
The syntaxHighlighter by alexgorbatchev seems to be very mighty.

Do the implemented text editors provide plugins for this purpose?
